POS for gastronomy – how to choose the best one?
There are many types of catering systems available on the market. Companies offer us a whole range of solutions for sales management - from traditional stationary POS to mobile sales applications for smartphones and tablets. A well-chosen system guarantees the proper operation of the restaurant. So what should you pay attention to when choosing one?
The first thing you need to remember when deciding on a specific POS is to check its functions and capabilities. A well-functioning system will simplify your work and make running a restaurant, cafe or food truck hassle-free.
The price of a restaurant POS system is important, but secondary. It's better to spend a little more on a system and enjoy its proper operation than to invest in a cheaper one that doesn't meet expectations. A subscription plan can be a good choice instead of a one-time payment. This is a particularly useful payment method for seasonal restaurants. What should a good POS system have?
A safe place to store your data
Want constant access to all your restaurant's invoices, reports, statistics, and other documents? Choose a cloud-based POS system that allows you to view and edit data in real time. It's the best investment you can make. Furthermore, you can be sure that your data is securely stored and only those you authorize will have access. You'll also avoid the risk of losing all your data if your system or computer is stolen, as the aforementioned cloud technology stores data on external servers.
The POSbistro system also offers a convenient application for restaurant owners , which can be installed on the phone and allows viewing the most important statistics from the restaurant at any time and place.
High level of service
Employee turnover in some restaurants is quite high, especially if they employ students who work part-time. It's important to remember that training a waiter to serve customers using a specific system can be time-consuming. How can this problem be solved? Simply choose an easy-to-use POS designed with waiters in mind, such as the Recommendation Module.
The ideal system should be intuitive to use , include the most important functions supporting restaurant management (including warehouse management, convenient payment methods, e-menu – POSbistro offers these features ), and should also minimize the risk of errors by the waiter or manager.
Every restaurant wants to present itself to the customer in the best possible light. The best way to do this is to provide the highest level of service. Time is money - everyone is aware of this. Especially restaurateurs. That is why they want to have a system that allows for fast, efficient and professional customer service. An efficiently functioning POS will allow for precise order taking, and the waiter's contact with the kitchen will be remote (orders are sent to the kitchen electronically using tablets). In addition, the restaurant will be able to present itself as a modern place.

Simple and cheap implementation
Opening and maintaining a business, as well as the costs associated with stocking and hiring staff, are very expensive aspects of running a business. Therefore, instead of investing in expensive IT equipment, it's worth considering mobile solutions for tablets, which are much cheaper to implement. The current leader in Poland is the POSbistro system , which, instead of a high one-time fee, is billed via a monthly subscription.
Free trial version of the POS system
Obviously, to determine if the system will work for your business, it's a good idea to see it first. If you don't know anyone currently using the system you're considering, ask the vendor for a trial or demo version. This allows you to play around with the system's features and see if it actually offers the features you need. POSbistro currently offers a 14-day trial after registering on its website. You'll gain access to a trial account in just a minute, without leaving home. See how easy it is to get a POSbistro demo.

I use Gastro, but I am MEGA dissatisfied with their service. After purchasing the system, they don't give a damn about you. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I have been waiting for almost 2 weeks for a solution to the problem and any help. Relying only on this system, in the event of a problem with printing receipts, you have to close the restaurant, because no one will help you. TRAGEDY!!!!!!
