Promote your menu online! Ideas + sample posts on social media

It is impossible to run a restaurant without the option of online ordering these days. It is the most common way for customers to order meals, which means you need to offer this option if you want to occupy a significant place in the local catering market. If you want to attract customers to your offer, we suggest how to do it!

Keep in touch with your followers

Your restaurant's social media profile is especially important right now ! It's the place where customers will be looking for information about whether you're still open, what the menu looks like, and how to place an order.

Customers won't know where to order from unless you tell them! In every post, mention the platforms you sell on, especially those that generate the most profit. You can also create a post with information about available ordering methods and select "Pin to top of page" next to the options. This will ensure it always appears first. Your profile banner is also a good place to list the websites through which people can order your dishes.

Be sure to post regularly to stay connected with your fans and up to date – you know how quickly things change these days. Encourage people to order your dishes, share interesting facts about your restaurant, and link to places where they can place orders. POSbistro's Link Menu tool is a great solution for this . It allows you to post a direct link to your menu on Facebook, for example , so your followers can conveniently place an order.

An example post could look like this:

Dear customers!

Even though you can't visit us in person, we encourage you to place orders online! We're still open and doing everything we can to get through this difficult time for the restaurant industry.

Our menu is available in the “Menu” tab and at the following link: [naszadomena.pl/twoje-menu-online]

Thank you for all your orders and support ♥

Thanks to this, we can continue to function and prepare delicious food for you!

Have a nice day 😉

New call to action

Sell under your own brand

Does your restaurant have its own website? Use it to collect orders! By selling under your own banner, your brand will be remembered by customers and they will associate good food with a specific restaurant, and not, for example, a portal associating restaurants.

If you want to easily launch ordering on your website, use the Virtual Menu plugin , which allows you to display your current menu. You'll be able to update your offerings at any time and withdraw funds for completed orders.

Attract customers with special offers and a loyalty program

Gastronomy customers are happy to take advantage of discounts, rebates and loyalty programs. The so-called rule of reciprocity applies here - you give the customer something extra, and in return they will feel obliged to repay you, e.g. order again, leave a bigger tip, add a positive opinion or recommend your establishment to friends.

Promotions are also a great way to attract new customers. A discount or special offer makes it easier for them to order from you – they perceive more benefits from doing so . If they enjoy your dishes, you can count on them returning and choosing something from your menu again.

If you offer something special, be sure to let your social media followers know about it. As we wrote earlier, a restaurant's profile is a great place to communicate with customers. When choosing an online ordering system, check if it offers a loyalty system, and if so, encourage them to join it and collect points!

If you'd like to compare food ordering portals, download our new free resource: Commission and Delivery Calculator. This spreadsheet lets you calculate the costs of running a sale using multiple restaurant aggregation services and compare them based on available features.
