The Kaffka Social Café is a unique project that combines a social initiative with the functioning of gastronomy. Its aim is to professionally activate the charges of the Association of Parents and Friends of People with Down Syndrome "Tęcza" in Krakow. Thanks to working in the café, they can expand their social and professional competences.

This is the second restaurant opened at the initiative of the association – the first is the Frytek Belgijskie restaurant in Kraków, which has been operating for several years in Nowa Huta. Both establishments operate on a non-profit basis, and the profits generated are used for the social rehabilitation of their employees.

Together with Karolina Adamczyk, coordinator of the Social Kaffka project and job coach, we talk about:

  • what the initiation of the work in the café looked like for the pupils,
  • why people with Down syndrome can be great as catering workers,
  • how does a café operate in the face of the dynamic market situation.
